Warm-up trip down the Mississippi
My environmental politics class spent 3 days on the river in mid-April, and had a fantastic time. Lots of bald eagles, herons, egrets, carp, and signs that the river is getting cleaner. We're planning a longer trip for next year, and this was a great warm-up for the NZ trip.
Here's a shot of us in the canoes, going through Lock and Dam # 1 just downstream from the Augsburg Campus.

Getting ready to hit the road
Hi all,
About a month now until we take off for New Zealand, and we are lining up our itinerary and site visits, working out the final logistics. Visits with a Maori Member of Parliament, lots of interesting different ecosystems, various politicians and activists, and some farming visits as well.
We'll start posting accounts and pictures from our travels once we get underway.
Cheers,
Joe
